Profile Category: Postpartum Doula
Hi, I’m Elizabeth Colley, a postpartum doula with a deep passion for walking alongside women and families through their postpartum journey. I’ve always known I wanted to serve women, but it wasn’t until I walked through my own postpartum journey that I discovered how. My introduction to motherhood was filled with challenges – I experienced severe postpartum anxiety and depression, and much of those early months are a blur to me. But through it all, one thought kept circling in my mind: How do families with little to no support do this?
I was blessed with an incredible support system, but I know that isn’t the reality for everyone. Out of that experience grew my passion to stand in the gap for families, helping them experience postpartum as it was meant to be: a tender and meaningful season, full of beauty even in the challenges. That is why I am honored to be a certified postpartum doula – so I can help create an atmosphere where families feel peaceful, supported, seen, and cared for as they adjust to life with their little one(s).
My background is rooted in Counseling and Psychology; I hold an Associate’s degree in Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology. During my studies and through my work with local nonprofits I gained valuable skills in active listening, being fully present, and bringing calm into difficult seasons. These experiences taught me to sit comfortably with people in their hardest moments and offer them a sense of peace. I also bring with me a spirit of hospitality and efficiency that I learned while working at Chick-fil-A – skills I now pour into the way I care for families.
