Recertification for Doulas, Childbirth Educators, Breastfeeding Counselors
The International Doula Institute strives to help birth workers stay up to date with current
birth guidelines, evidence, and trends in birth. By requiring recertification, we ensure our
certified birth workers are up to date with all of these things.
1. Recertification occurs every three years and incurs a processing fee of $75.
2. Submission of surveys/evaluations from at least three clients whom you’ve
supported
3. Complete three continuing education credits (CEU’s) Online or in-person are both
accepted. Must be related to Birth work in the following areas
• Pregnancy (pre-conception and after)
• Labor and birth
• Breastfeeding and human lactation (Must include for CBC’s)
• Perinatal and postpartum health and wellness, including infant wellness
If you choose to complete a new certification through IDI, it will count for all three of your required continuing education credits (client evaluations still required), and we’ll waive the $75 recertification fee. We also offer 1-credit continuing education courses at idi.pathwright.com.
Please contact IDI if you are unsure whether or not a topic will be considered.
