A comprehensive overview of history’s impact on current disparities in birth outcomes ensures birth workers understand the differences in care their clients might receive. This course also equips you with the knowledge and resources to help your clients have positive and empowering birth and postpartum experiences despite increased risks of disparities.
This course covers North American history and erasure of traditional midwifery in both Indigenous and Black communities, structural and social determinants of health, understanding conscious and unconscious bias, the complexities and biases clients with disabilities face, challenges and biases queer families face, religious discrimination and biases, and more.
