Profile Category: Birth Doula
My name is La’Tia, and I love being a doula because I have an excuse to conduct all the pregnancy and childbirth-related research that I have been interested in since I was a child. I first decided to become a doula when one of my sisters asked me to be her doula for the birth of her first child. I sought training to better understand the role of a doula, and I fell in love with the idea of offering that type of professional support to her and others. My name actually means “the aunt,” and growing up, I was often called the “mom” or the “big sister” of my friend groups because of how much I cared for others. Some of my strengths that have been pointed out by others are a good listening ear, a comforting presence, and the ability to stay calm under pressure; all character traits that I plan to apply to my doula work.
I live in Saint Paul, MN, with my husband of one year, and we hope to start a family soon. Right now, we have a black and white Whoodle (Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier and Poodle mix) puppy named Zorra. She’s pretty shy and timid, but also has FOMO and wants to be wherever we are.
Both my husband and I are involved in our church, and I love serving as one of the lead teachers for their Pre-K Sunday School class. I fill my time by baking for pleasure and my home-based baking business, reading any thriller or mystery I can find, and writing to gather my thoughts. No Records Found
